I like the rural atmosphere, open beautiful country. What you should be asking is what do I need to stay living in this county.....my answer would be fewer places to eat food and shop. More places for employment other than the service industry. Transportation for citizens who live rural and/or affordable housing in the city. Too many sub divisions are being built and too few AFFORDABLE apartments are available. We lack quality entertainment and museums and conference centers. One cannot even see a movie in the eastern part of the city. Have we considered attracting farming equipment manufacturers to our county since agricultural is major here. How about horse equipment suppliers? We offer a huge market for these industries and they could offer jobs.
What I like about Union County is that it is NOT Mecklenburg county and I want it to stay that way!!! I moved here because of the rural life, because of the quiet lifestyle! If I wanted to be near apartments, mega subdivisions I would have moved north. PLEASE do not let what politicians view as progress destroy this beautiful county!
